No. 24 Kentucky erased a 17-0 deficit and beat South Carolina 35-34 in overtime Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia.
After South Carolina took the lead in overtime on a short touchdown pass from LaNorris Sellers to Maurice Brown II, Kenny Minchey answered with a 6-yard scoring throw to Henry Boyer. Kentucky went for two immediately, and Minchey connected with Willie Rodriguez at the back of the end zone for the winning points.
Sellers threw for 226 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 147 yards, including a 74-yard burst that set up a fourth-quarter score. Kentucky improved to 4-1 and 2-1 in the Southeastern Conference. The Gamecocks fell to 2-3 and 0-3 in league play, their eighth straight conference loss.
South Carolina played without edge rusher Dylan Stewart, who was suspended by the school and the conference after a prior game. Kentucky hosts No. 11 LSU next; South Carolina visits No. 8 Florida.
