LITTLE RIVER, S.C. — Four people were taken to the hospital Sunday after two vehicles collided on North Highway 57 in Little River, S.C., and one of them flipped over, Horry County Fire Rescue said.
Fire crews were sent to the spot where Worthams Cutoff Road meets Highway 57 at about 10:48 a.m. Two of the people involved were pinned inside, and rescuers had to stabilize the wreckage and cut them free.
The crash shut down every lane of North Highway 57 while emergency crews worked the scene, and officials urged drivers to steer clear of the area to avoid backups and keep responders safe.
The extent of the injuries was not released. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is handling the investigation into what caused the collision.
